Official tickets. The Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) says that its original tickets are sold online at shop.khm.at and at its own cash desk, and it warns that unofficial websites may sell tickets that are not accepted. The full price is 22 euros online and 24 euros at the museum, according to the pages we read on 23 October 2026.

The cards on this page are a different product. They are tickets and tours sold by our partner Tiqets, a third party. Official ticket: 22 euros online. Ticket via Tiqets: 22 euros at the time of writing, with an instant mobile ticket and cancellation under the terms on the Tiqets page, according to Tiqets. We are not the KHM, and Tiqets is not the KHM either.
What do the official prices cover?
| Ticket | Online | At the museum |
|---|---|---|
| Full price | 22 euros | 24 euros |
| Reduced | 19 euros | 20 euros |
| With the Vienna City Card | 23 euros | |
| Under 19 | Free | Free |
| Combined ticket Treasures of the Habsburgs (KHM and Imperial Treasury) | 32 euros |
Buying online saves 2 euros on the full price and 1 euro on the reduced one. The reduced price is for students under 25, visitors aged 65 and over of any nationality, visitors with reduced mobility and their companion, and unemployed people, always with a valid document. The museum says there is no legal right to a discount, and without proof you pay the full price. Holders of the Kulturpass and the ICOM card enter free. The prices include 10% VAT. The museum also lists a Masterticket for the KHM and the Leopold Museum at 37 euros, but the official site does not confirm where it is sold.
Do children need a ticket?
Under 19s enter free. When you book online you do not have to book a ticket for them, and they are registered at the entrance with a valid ID. Children under 14 must be with an adult.
How do time slots work?
Since 8 September 2026 everyone needs a time slot, whether the ticket is bought online or at the cash desk. The ticket is valid for one entry on the day and at the time you choose, and you can stay as long as you like. Tickets bought before that date are valid without a slot. The ticket arrives by e-mail, so check your spam folder. See the opening hours before you choose the day, because Mondays depend on the season.
Can I get my money back?
The museum says that tickets already bought cannot be exchanged or refunded. Its FAQ mentions a refund for online purchases under Austrian distance-selling rules, but we could not confirm whether it applies to time-slot tickets. The museum’s refund form is at khm.at/refund.
What are the tickets sold by Tiqets?
Tiqets is a ticket marketplace and our partner. At the time of writing its adult ticket for the KHM costs 22 euros, the same as the official online price, with no booking fee. What the Tiqets listing adds is the instant mobile ticket, a purchase page in more languages than the official shop (which shows English and German) and cancellation under the terms on its product page: we could not verify the exact deadline, so read it before you pay. What it does not add is an audio guide, a guide or any extra access. It does not let you skip a queue either: the time slot applies to everyone.
Tiqets also sells two combined tickets. The one with the Imperial Treasury costs 32 euros, as does the official one, and is not refundable. The one with the Leopold Museum costs 37 euros, like the Masterticket, but we could not find where the official site sells it online. The Leopold Museum and the Treasury are closed on Tuesdays.
The museum forbids selling or offering admission tickets for sale, although passing them on free of charge is allowed, and we could not confirm whether it has an agreement with Tiqets. Read the terms on the Tiqets product page. Our tickets page lists the options with live prices.
Audio guides and tours
The audio guide costs 6 euros at the museum and is available in 10 languages, including Italian. The museum’s guided tours cost 3 to 6 euros on top of the entry ticket, such as an English tour listed in the official shop at 6 euros. Private tours start at 100 euros for 60 minutes.
Which option should I choose?
If you want the simplest way to pay the official price, buy on the official site. A Tiqets ticket makes sense if you want an instant mobile ticket, a purchase page in your language or the possibility to cancel under its terms, or if you simply prefer to buy through them. Whichever you pick, read how to get there so that you arrive on time for your slot.
